Sound files
« on: July 17, 2005, 05:39:41 AM »

Hi

I've installed Alfredo and got him working.

To try and start customisation I recorded a couple of mp3 files, replaced the files in soundfiles with them using same name, no joy.  I then thought that maybe the .txt file needed replacing as well, so followed instructions in customisation to create amp string.  Still no joy.

I didn't want to change any of the intelligence at the moment, just getting it to play a different sound file.  Any suggestions?

Hi there,

I'm glad Paypal finally allowed the purchase.

Try quitting your browser and restarting it again to hear the new mp3 files.

Still no joy.  The bot mind seems to be working , ie the text is still showing correctly, but the files just don't play at all.

if you don't hear any sound at all, that means Alfredo isn't able to find either the mp3 or the amp (.txt) files. Are sure you named them exactly the same?

When creating new mp3 or amp files you should always use the fileNameTool that comes with the bot engine download (in the tools folder).  In botOutput you should paste the exact phrase (with the exact interpunction!) the bot is saying. A comma or a question mark could make all the difference.

Also, don't forget to insert the "faFile=filename.mp3" variable in the amp file. Make sure the amp file is a flat text file without any formatting, line breaks or white space and the parameters are separated by "&".

Thought I'd just let you know that the original mp3 files play straight away as soon as I rename them to the relevant name.

which software do you use to make your mp3 files? Maybe try with an mp3 generated in another way

i can recommend Audacity in combination with the Lame encoder
